Braun SP3170 Epilator - Solo

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This epilator is life changing!
Ladies, if you shave your legs every day and are fed up with stubble and peeling suntan, look no further. I had high hopes for this and every one has been surpassed! It's quick, clean and extremely easy to use. The hairs are pulled out in such a way that it's not painful, just the odd pulling sensation here and there (though I admit doing armpits brought tears to my eyes, so am sticking with the razor until I steel myself to do it properly). Other reviewers have recommended a rough mitt or body scrub to avoid in-growing hairs. I agree, plus it's a good idea to rough up the hairs before you use the epilator to get the best result. I now have to 'do' my legs about once a week to 10 days. Yes, you can feel the regrowth, but it's not like the usual shaver stubble because it's so slow growing and consists of far fewer hairs - yes, this machine creates less regrowth. I cannot praise this highly enough - it's life changing! The only observation is it's very noisy and has to be plugged into the mains.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Braun SP3170 Epilator Solo
When I started using this epilator I found that the hairs grew back within a few days each time, so I was quite disappointed. However, I persevered, and after 2 months of use, they suddenly stopped growing back and now I have smooth legs for about 4 weeks! So if you are finding the same problem, please don't give up because it does work in the end! The SP3170 Solo is great and removes the hairs efficiently and with continued use, relatively painlessly. I would recommend it, especially as it is just as good as more expensive models.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Product - Wish I'd Bought one Before!
I have never waxed and until now have only ever shaved my legs. The first time I used the Epilator it did hurt a bit but then again my hairs were longer than recommended. However, once you have done the initial removal, subsequent removals are actually quite pain free and I am a wimp!. Don't try armits or bikini unless you are very brave!

After use my legs did tingle and felt a little sensitive but again this soon disappeared.

Yes it is noisy but that shouldn't put you off.

You will need to exfoliate to stop ingrowing hairs or rub legs dry vigorously as someone else reommended. Keeping legs moisturised also helps.

The only thing I would say is that I don't get that initial silky smooth aftershave feeling - there always seems to be a very light stubble. However you can't see it (only feel it).

Hairs take much longer to grow back and you can find yourself getting obsessed hunting down that rogue hair that you missed!

Overall I would definately recommend this product, especially to a wax/epilator virgin like myself.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - So much better than a salon wax
At £32 a time for a full leg salon wax which only looks good for a few weeks at the most followed by a few not so good weeks, I decided to try this epilator figuring that if it wasn't up to much I could just write it off cos it was so much cheaper than just one waxing session anyway. Its great! Just as good a job for a lot less money and so much more convenient to do in your own home rather than making and keeping to appointments. I agree it does 'exfoliate' your legs at the same time but I think this is preferable to having your legs feeling wax sticky until you shower.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - DIDN'T LIKE IT AS MUCH AS PHILIPS MODEL
My friend and myself both had Philips epilators that were getting a bit old and decided to treat ourselves to this new one as it was on offer. Didn't like it at all, found it very abrasive on the skin and didn't pick up as many hairs as Philips model - have gone back to using my old Philips one and have just written off the £20 spent on the Braun.
