Braun 2270 EasyStart Eversoft Epilator
from: Braun

Like some of the other reviewers, I too was a waxer before going for the Epilator. I bought this one a while back. The first couple of times were a little uncomfortable, but now on legs I barely feel it at all... Underarms are more sensitive, but I tend to use the starter head to thin out the hair a little first. It's not as bad that way. However, I haven't dared use on the bikini area! (Maybe I'll be brave one day)...I tried the cooling gel packs once, but found them a bit of a palaver so they remain in the freezer unused. I tend to use it once a week or every two weeks. The more frequently you use it, the quicker the operation is, as you are just removing the odd stray hairs.... All in all, I am very pleased. I think it is a good, basic model. There are probably better ones on the market but I am happy with it. It is noisy, you do have to go over areas a couple of times to get all of the hairs and sometimes it is not so easy to get to the hair in the underarm area, but I really do wish I'd bought one a long time ago - I would have saved a lot of money!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Weird but wonderful
I bought the Braun 2270 EasyStart Eversoft Epilator few weeks ago and have been kicking myself for wasting my money and energy on waxing all these years. It's very easy to use, gets very short hairs as well as longer ones and is defintely kinder to the skin than hot wax. The sensation however is quite unique, took me a couple of goes to get used to that. The downsides are that you do have to go over the same area several times while paying attention to get everything and it did make my skin a little dry afterwards. But if you usually shave then be prepared for a bit of pain the first time you use it. I didn't really need the fancy head attachments or the ice gel packs as although they numb the skin, the cold also shuts the hair follicles so the hairs are broken off rather than pulled out.
All in all a great product, especially suited for people who wax. The no-frills version is probably just as good.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not as scary as it looks!
Having tried waxing, shaving and that funny Babyliss "leg sander", I stumbled across epilation. First of all, I am not a hardened waxer but I found this wasn't half as painful as I expected.

When you first take it out of the box, it looks like a torture instrument and when you switch it on, it sounds vicious. Then, when you've finally gathered up enough courage, you gingerly test it on your arm... and your suddenly disappointed that it doesn't hurt more!

I spend an hour staring at this before using it. My advice is: read the instructions carefully then just get on with it. It's not as bad as you have imagined.

This kit comes with two epilation heads and a funny roller thing that slips over the top of each head (making it easier to keep the epilator at a 90 degree angle over your legs, arms etc). The starter head was a lot more gentle but I soon became frustrated over it missing so many hairs. When the other head was used, it was much quicker to get the smoothness I wanted.

Also in the kit, there are two gel packs (to put in the freezer) and a glove. You've to cool them for at least 2 hours before using them but you can keep them in the freezer for as long as you want. The "glove" is just to stop you freezing your hand off when applying the gel pack to your leg.

I found that applying the gel pack was more painful than the actual epilation so I quickly abandoned it (I guess I may be over sensitive to the cold).

All in all, I'm happy with this product. As a beginner, I found it easy to use and my legs are lovely and smooth. What more can you ask for?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Far less boring than waxing
I bought this because I was sick of waxing/sugaring, which I find messy and tedious if I do it myself, and expensive at a salon. I use this about once every two weeks and it's great. I don't find it terribly painful, but then I am used to waxing. You do have to pay attention, otherwise you miss bits. It's also noisy, and gets quite hot, but you can do your legs in about 15 minutes, and then you don't have to worry about them for another fortnight or so. I would recommend this to anyone who's willing to give epilation a try.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Painful but worth it!
It feels like burning when you run the epilator over your skin. I actually use it on my bikini line - which I found less painful than legs... but then I'm used to having a bikini wax so that's probably why.

I thought the 'cooling gel pack' would be just a gimmick but it does actually help - however, I'm sure a packet of frozen peas would do exactly the same job! It was good to start with the easy-start head as this eased you in a little better. If you can afford a model with one of these it is definitely worth it. Overall , a great product as long as you expect pain. If you normally pay for a few waxes in a salon per year then it's paid for itself in no time.
