I thoroughly enjoyed the Twighlight Saga, so much that I have actually purchased all four books in hardback. Engrossing and heart wrenching at times and defintely a good read.

I had seen the first two films before i decided to read the books and wasnt sure what to expect with them. I had heard nice things about them from a lot of friends so decided to read them myself.
The books have a lot more in them than the film in terms of little details and extra events but i found it was a lot easier to understand after watching the film because i could imagine what the characters were like easier.
As a 20 year old i was quite suprised how a book could still draw me in and create all these amazing images in my head. The authors descriptions are enough to easilly see what she means without going on and on and i also found the language level in the book is comfortable enough for anyone with a average vocabulary to read but not so easy you skip through it.
I finished the book within 2 days because i just couldnt put it down! Once you start reading it you just want to read the full thing. The story line is enchanting and you cant help but fall in love with the characters!
Overall its worth the cheap price on here and its worth having a read of the first one as if you like that style the second is just as addictive :)

I never particurly liked any sort of books that have a chance of beating the Harry Potter series and for several months I have squeezed in a bad comment on this book. However, my best friend was recommended it by her mum. I felt a bit odd. I had commented on this book terribly, making it clear that I felt the books were terrible until I actually considered the fact I had not read the book myself. I got a copy from the library and read it. My views remain the same. This book has a bad writing style. The 'vampire' thing with Edward is the kind of thing 6 year old americans think is 'cool'. I think the bok is silly, plotless and half the book is wasted. This would do better as a series on disney tv.
Sorry, but this book doesn't grip e like many others, despite its fabulous reviews and dazzling fame.

Yeah this book is entertaining enough, but how many of us actually had heard of let alone read this novel until the film was announced? This book was actually published in 2005/2004 ish time, because I remember my friend ( we were both 10 at the time ) had read it. I asked her if it was any good and she said it was " worth a read, but not amazing." I still remember her saying this! So of course when the movie craze swept the nation I decided to read it like everyone else to see what the fuss was about.
This book IS enjoyable, but it's a plain and simple love story between Bella and Edward, with an evil vampire thrown in for good measure. My impressions by the end:
- No real plot twists...predictable
- Overly mushy and made me feel like telling Bella to shut up!
- Not a realistic love relationship ( He only likes her because he can't read her mind and he likes her blood =.= It's just not healthy, ya know?? )
- Other characters very much take a backseat.... her school friends are forgotten almost immediately, and even the rest of the Cullens have small roles.
- Bella's a clumsy, antisociable, plain and normal girl (so we're told) yet guys seem to fall for her left right and centre....why??
- Edward constantly telling her that he's dangerous...and Bella constantly thinking that but ignoring herself and him anyway!
- Bella constantly commenting on how beautiful Edward is...we get the point, not another page on his hair/eyes/jaw line etc... =.=
- No depth to the storyline. Not unique. Anyone could have thought it up xD
Over all I did enjoy it, but its hype is all because of the film and there are other books that far exceed it.

I came to the Twilight saga somewhat late compared to other people and therefore I was conscious of trying not to be overtly influenced one way or the other by the massive hype that has been whipped up around the books and films.
Perhaps this is the reason for my lukewarm reaction to the book, though it may also be down to the fact that I am a huge fan of supernatural fiction in general and vampire fiction in particular, and so a book in that genre has to do a lot to impress me.
To be honest I found much of the book boring a great deal of it was devoted to the development of the relationship between the two protagonists and general teenage angst concerning friendships and relationships with parents. That's all very well in it's place, and I realise this this book is primarily aimed at teenagers and that kind of thing will of course appeal to them but I have seen this done much better in the past by other authors (such as in "The Silver Kiss" which is an excellent vampire story aimed at teenagers or the "Night World" series by L J Smith).
Stephanie Meyer's take on the vampire myth is in an interesting one, particularly the new elements which she introduces but ultimately they serve make the book into more of a fantasy than a horror story. The book would have worked with Edward being any mildly dangerous supernatural creature and it wouldn't have made any difference at all to the story. I say mildly because in spite of all his warnings to Bella you never really believe that he would hurt her or that she is in much danger from him at all.
Perhaps I would feel differently if I read more books from the series but this first one has left me with no particular desire to pick up any of the others. I didn't hate the book and I can certainly understand why it has become popular with many teenage girls (and with older ladies who should know better!) but this is not really for me.
